I think one of the most annoying issues with our windows and doors is the hardware, the chrome and gold bits that adorn our windows and doors. They quite often start to tarnish and rust well before they should, making a perfectly good window or door look quite shabby and old beyond its years.
One of the worst circumstances is for people living in coastal areas and inner-city areas. The high salt content in the air and gases in the city can badly corrode the gold and chrome finishes on window and door hardware. Finding a quality solution to last is also a task in itself. This is why UAP have brought out their own range of highly resistant window and door hardware, called Nanocoast®.
Many of their products incorporate Nanocoast® technology which has been developed specifically for properties that are located close to the coast or any other areas that experience extremes in air quality. The Nanocoast® range has been salt-spray tested; ASTM B117 for 2,000 hours, far longer than normal hardware testing.
To get a product that withstands 2000 hours of salt-spray punishment, UAP had to make sure they got three vital areas correct. They had to make sure they had the right and the best PVD coating, the right base metal had to be used and believe it or not, the right factory. Picking the right place of manufacture is key to making sure the quality of the product is assured. Fail on one of these three areas and you won’t get past the 2000 hour mark.
The Nanocoast® products are made from Stainless Steel and are available with Mirror Polished Stainless Steel and PVD Gold finishes, all products in the range can be colour suited. Products in the Nanocoast® range include letterplates, letters & numerals, door knockers and door viewers.

shame they are only putting a ten year warranty on it where other stainless steel products offer 25 when used in coastal regions.
Hi pluggyboy
The 25 year guarantee throws up other issues when it comes to guarantees. Look at other household products like your white goods, TV’s and cars. The guarantees that come with these items are far less than ten years. Would a car manufacturer offer a longer guarantee on their paint work just because you live by the coast? No probably not. 25 years for a guarantee is way too long, puts an unfair pressure on companies. 10 years is enough in my opinion.
Thanks for your comment!
Hi
The nanocoast product does come with a 25 year warranty its just an inland warranty and then drops down to 10 years when fitted in a coastal area so the argument that 25 years is to long is mute on this product, what i am talking about is the other stainless steel products on the market already offer a 25 year coastal warranty so the company isnt standing by there product like there competitors are.
pluggyboy makes an excellent point! He’s right
