Remember the bribe…sorry, cash back scheme the Government launched about three weeks ago? That £125m scheme to try and nudge people into early uptake of the scheme? Yeah, well that won’t be available until January 28th!

Talk about a botch job! What is the point of this launching? The Government said that it was pressing ahead with it’s ‘soft launch’ of the scheme as it wanted people to become aware of the scheme to be ready for when funding was available to complete work. Well I don’t know about you but I’ve not had a single person come in and ask about it! The Government really needs to be alerting the buying public on TV, radio and newspapers that this scheme is now ready to be explored.

Anyone else noticed the date? The Government was supposed to be having the Green Deal Bank, the bank specifically designed to fund any works stemming from the Green Deal, up and running on January 28th. I think it would be a safe bet to say that the Green Deal Bank is clearly not going to be ready in time and that the Government is using this cash back scheme to replace it for the time being instead. Totally shambolic.

The Government is putting plasters over massive cracks here. The whole scheme is currently reading water at best. I’ve seen no interest or comment from the consumers and from what I read on other websites and Twitter, there it very little interest in the scheme from the industry too. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this scheme should never had been launched until the whole thing from start to finish was planned and really ready to go. Also, the scheme should have been launched with a coordinated and effective marketing campaign to really raise the interest of the buying public!
