It was announced on Friday that the UK economy grew 0.8% in the last quarter. It might not seem that astronomical in the grand scheme of things but when you look at the last few years, 0.8% is practically Chinese levels of growth!

For those who follow the financial news, you will know that various international monetary bodies have raised their prediction s for UK growth over the last month or so, including the IMF. It does seem them that the UK economic recovery is gaining momentum then. A good indication for momentum is the UK’s construction sector. When that is in full swing, its generally a good indicator that things are heading in the right direction.

Even on a smaller scale the fenestration industry follows in the footsteps of it’s larger construction brother. When that is doing well, the window industry tends to do very well. Hence why our sector has always had a very active interest in construction – not to mention that every building needs windows of course!

What is happening this year is what happened last year. The last 6 months of 2012 saw a very strong period and this year the very same seems to be happening. On a personal level, our business suffered a little bit due to the extended winter. It had a negative effect on our targets we set at the end of 2012 and we struggled to get back on terms with those. But, just like in 2012, the last 6 months of this year seem to be turning things back around and we’re on for another strong finish. Looking at what others have been saying, this seems to be a similar pattern.

On a totally different subject, my laptop finally conked out on Friday night, so I’ve had to type this post on my tablet. Please excuse any massive grammar or spelling errors! I’m having to buy a new laptop very quickly and hope that my IT company can recover the hard drive in my old one as like a prize idiot I hadn’t backed it up in ages!
