It’s not too often that we get to write and read about good news stories in our industry, and in fact in the wider media in general. So it has been utterly heartwarming to read about and watch the sheer joy of a man who had fallen on hard times, be rewarded with a chance to turn things around at midlands-based fabricator Central RPL.

This was the moment he was captured jumping for joy after he left the premises being told the job was his after a trial period:

The video, which was shared on Facebook by employee Aaron James Doyle, has now reached over 1.6m views. And this is the statement Aaron put on his post on the platform:

Got to share something with you all, this week we have had a new lad start at work been given a trial to see how he gets on and if he made a good impression would be given a permanent position. He is currently staying at a homeless shelter in Wolverhampton has literally nothing and wants to get back on his feet etc. This isnt the best part. He gets given food from the church everyday and brings it to work. Take into account he doesn’t know where his next meal is coming and probably doesn’t eat the best. Every single morning he offers me a chocolate bar or some of his coffee and milk. Might seem like nothing to most but this guy has really won me over. But the best part of the story today he’s been paid his first weeks wages and told he’s got a permanent job. The reaction as he left was priceless.

What stands out most for me is the generosity of this man, who has nothing to his name, who offers what little he has to his fellow employees. Truly humbling.

Perspective

Seeing things like this should put life into perspective for those what watch it. It certainly does for me.

This man, going through hardships many of us will be lucky to never have to worry about, has been given a chance to get back on his feet a build what I am sure we all hope will be a successful career at his new place of work. And although he has very little right now, he still has the generosity and kindness to offer those around him what little he has.

So when we complain about being inconvenienced, having to wait, something might not be working, or perhaps working later than you planned to, try to remember this very story and consider your situation. The fact you’re reading this article means you have a device and service many in this country and around the world simply cannot afford.

I want to wish a big good luck to the man starting his new career, and hope that he settles in well at Central RPL and becomes a valuable and proactive member of the team there.

Also, I am sure everyone would love to know how he progresses within the company. So I would like to invite the company, if they wish, to leave the occasional comment to let us all know how he is progressing!
