I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Gardiner to the role of Managing Director at Listers from 1st November.
Steve joins us at a very exciting time of growth, investment and product innovation and has all the credentials and experience to drive Listers on towards £20m sales by offering our customers best in class products, great service and most importantly to be the easiest fabricator to deal with in the UK.
Appointing a new MD is never easy and having got to know our customers, employees and the superb and unique culture that exists at Listers it was important that we got this right first time for all stakeholders. We took our time and met with a number of very good candidates, but when I spoke with Steve who I’ve known for many years it was clear the timing was right to rekindle our partnership.
Steve served an apprenticeship at Plessey Communications (GEC) before progressing onto various management roles and senior directorships. We first met in 1995 when Steve was appointed Manufacturing Director at ABB Kent Water Meters and I was a young Team Leader fresh out of University, we left there 4 years later following growth and success in 1999 when we joined Everest where Steve became Operations Director and I became Manufacturing Director. We helped to grow Everest from £80m to £165m and both left Everest in 2011 again at the same time after 12 years to pursue our own stuff and now 7 years later, well here we go all over again!
Steve has also had spells at CET Glass in Northampton (now Epwin Glass) and Wendland Roofs (now part of Ultraframe) and more recently Float Glass Industries and knows our industry well. Steve has managed and implemented growth, change and turnaround challenges throughout his career and is a manufacturing and operations expert and most importantly achieves success through developing people, he developed me and my career so I know how he works.
I won’t be a stranger at Listers which has naturally become our Group HQ and will be working on building our fast growing group to become one of the best in the UK with more acquisitions and through organic growth. We already have multiple systems and product offerings including Deceuninck, VEKA HALO, Eurocell, Residence Collection and our own brands RAUM Aluminium, Timeless and Infinity. We have a great innovations pipeline, Graf Welders and with ‘Easy Connect’ and ‘Make it Yours’ the very best support and marketing package for trade installers in the market today. Steve is joining us at the right time, we’re ready for 2020 and beyond.
