Masco US have released their 3rd quarter results, with the first apparent confirmation from the company that they have sold their UK window and door companies.
Their full Q3 results can be read here. But from the release, this is key paragraph with regards to their UK fenestration industry exposure:
We are pleased with our performance in the third quarter and with the progress we are making on the anticipated divestitures of our Cabinetry and Windows businesses. During the quarter we completed the sale of our UK Window business and announced the signing of a definitive agreement to sell our Milgard Windows and Doors business,” said Allman. “After accounting for our Windows businesses as discontinued operations, we now expect adjusted earnings per share from continuing operations to be in the range of $2.52-$2.56 for the full year.
As far as I know, this is the first public confirmation from any party involved that the UK company has been successfully sold. Although documents were submitted to Companies House confirming that Masco US were no longer an interested party in the the company, this is an explicit confirmation that the business has indeed been sold. They also mention again their agreement to sell Milgard Windows and doors.
This comes at a time where speculation is rife as to the future of some of our sector’s companies. The industry feel in a state of flux right now, where almost anything could happen. More consolidation is almost certain, as it appears the UK economy as a whole is sliding towards a slow period. In the run up to the end of the year, the news stream of this kind is unlikely to run dry.
