All of a sudden, the industry feels a tad unstable. There is a lot of movement right now between fabricators and systems companies. Much more than usual. And it has spread into the conservatory part of the market too.

There is a further article exploring what is going on at the moment which will be published on DGB soon. But in what is a sure sign of market frenetics, Modplan, a VEKA fabricator, has published a press release saying things are “business as usual”.

The Modplan statement

In an article published on their website today, they have reiterated their commitment to VEKA within their business:

Leading VEKA trade fabricator Modplan has confirmed its position as Business as Usual amid the current industry changes.

Heidi Sachs, Managing Director at Modplan said: “The recent announcement of the growing partnership between UKWDG and VEKA plc has sparked conversations across the industry. We are a longtime supplier to trade installers, trade counters and park home manufacturers across the UK and we know they may be concerned about the announcement and what it means for them. We would like to take this opportunity to assure our customers of continuity in the face of these recent developments.”

Heidi continued: “We aren’t convinced this latest development is in the best interests of the industry, but change is inevitable. Here at Modplan our role is to navigate the situation while ensuring our service to customers remains unaffected.”

Modplan manufactures a comprehensive range of VEKA window, door and conservatory products across their multi-site fabrication plant near Newport, South Wales. The overarching aim of the business is to ensure they consistently offer the best in product quality for their trade customers, whilst their business integrity and proactive support adds value to installers’ businesses.

Heidi concluded: “We appreciate the trust our customers place in us and will continue to uphold it at all times.”

It’s not exactly veiled. It is one of a growing number of public and private comments on recent changes within the sector of late. Namely, the VEKA and UKWDG deal which was announced earlier this week.

The statement is of course a chance to take a swipe at the competition, and gently voice displeasure towards existing relationships, but as the statement says, change is inevitable, and it appears that we’re in the midst of a significant phase of change right now.
