The last few months has seen the solar industry’s feed in tariff slashed to a rather low 16p/kWh, much to the dismay of the industry and other companies looking to get into the solar market. But, despite this, there are still some major advantages to solar panels.
The Government has raised the excess electricity rate to 4.2p/kWh and even with the FIT set at 16p/kWh, solar panels should still be paid for in the space of ten years. With energy prices still on the rise and due to rise by a staggering 70% up to 2020, solar panels will ensure that the homeowner has some defence against crippling energy prices.
The Solar Trade Association (STA) has backed solar’s continued viability and CEO Paul Barwell said: “Our figures show that solar is a no brainer investment. Compared to the returns you can get these days in banks and many other investments, solar provides a very solid and attractive return.
“Nobody knows what electricity prices will be in future but we do know they have gone up substantially over the past few years. This trend may well continue as the UK becomes more reliant on importing its energy in an increasingly competitive world.”
Companies like lead generator company Quotatis continue to back solar panels and the solar industry. Teresa believes that window, door and conservatory installers should get involved whilst the market is still relatively untouched: “The sun continues to shine on solar and indeed a number of other renewable energy schemes exist, most of which remain unpublicised and unknown. For the moment however, solar PV remains the best opportunity for window installers to take advantage of existing skills and assets. At the very least companies should look into it; there is a vast amount of information on the internet and it should be explored. But don’t leave it until the sun goes behind a cloud.”
Providing that window companies can get their head around the whole process and get the message across to potential customers that long term there is still a benefit to installing solar panels.
Quotatis specialise in double glazing and solar leads. All leads are fully checked and made sure they are of a good quality. Their pay as you go method of payment means that a business can easily control their spends. First I should say we are not and have no intention of selling Solar. I do however have a couple of points to make. No. 1 Why is it that companies who are selling windows think that they have the technical ability to sell what, appears to me, to be a high tech product. In an age where you need a Part P certificate to commercially change a plug top, what training, experience and licencing is needed for a window company to set up selling Solar. I have no idea of the answer to this, has anybody? No. 2 Many… Read more »
