I have been putting out the odd cryptic tweet lately, which has probably left a few wondering what was going on in my crazy little head of mine. In truth, I have been struggling with a workload I have placed on myself, which has brought on it’s own frustrations and stresses which finally got the better of me. To be totally honest, I chucked the towel in on my most recent project…until two very important people talked me out of it and persuaded me to have a few days off. So that’s what I did. I stepped away from the laptop (almost) completely, rested, did things absolutely nothing to do with work and now my head is back in the game!
So, what do I have to tell you? While the National Fenestration Awards are moving along nicely, things on the DGB front are getting very exciting! I am working on a completely new DGB. Everything is going to change! So what can I tell you since last time I spoke about this?
Logo. My clever @SophiiMaria13 helped me design my first official DGB logo! Since I started my blog in March 2009, I haven’t had any proper insignia. This is something which I have lacked for far too long so made sure this was one of the first things to get done! It’s simple, nothing flashy, but clean and will sit nicely at the top of the new home of DGB!
Theme. I have picked my home for DGB. It is WAY brighter and easier on the eye than the current DGB site. It has a much more engaging home page which I can build from scratch if I wish, which means it will be far more content rich and that older stories won’t get pushed to the back and lost in time. The new version of DGB is going to have more regular guest writers which will help give a more encompassing vision of our wonderful industry.
Topics. The new home I have picked for DGB will allow for more constant topics to be covered. The theme allows me to permanently display certain subjects which in the past have been left to gather dust pages back. This means DGB will be able to cover more comprehensively subjects that matter most to our industry, such as Green Deal and CE Marking.
Resources. Though the current DGB has a fair bit of free information for you to use, again it is buried underneath lots of other content. The new DGB will display a lot clearer, guides like the Consumer Guide I wrote myself, guide to Twitter, my Help page and Passivhaus. These are all free to use and will continue to be so in the next reincarnation.
Ad opportunities. Don’t want to say much more about this right now, but if any of you are interested in advertising on the STILL rapidly growing DGB website, please contact me on info@doubleglazingblogger.com.
All being well, barring any technical problems, I will have my new site up and running at the very latest June 10th. I go to Download Festival on the 12th so I want to make sure you get to see it before I go quiet for a little while! There are things I wish I could show you now, but I have to be patient. I have always been passionate about DGB and doing something as big and as different as this is always exciting for me!
I will hopefully be able to tell you a little more soon, but in the meantime, if you have any ideas as to what you would like to see in DGB 3.0, please let me know in the comments section below!
I have a feeling your deadline is the same as mine DOWNLOAD.I have so much to complete before then.It might not all be done.lol
Mark, you saw right through me! ;-)
I am hoping to get everything in place and all content sorted before me and the girlfriend get a few well earned days off moshing! Hope to be able to catch you there for a beer or five ;-)
