Olsen UK – Contemporary Home, Scotland
The architects & owners of this unique home in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland wanted to make the most of the elevated position of the site and the spectacular views on offer which meant using large pieces of glazing which were supplied by Olsen Doors & Windows.
Due to the exposed location, the doors & windows used were from Olsen’s Thermo HS Alu and Combi Alu ranges which offer robust timber frames with external aluminium cladding for enhanced life-span and durability. The systems were manufactured with triple glazing which meant the whole window & door U-values were from 1.0W/m2K as standard.
The large Thermo HS lift & slide doors used, spanning heights of up to 2.5 meters, ensured the building remains airtight even with the strong winds due to the compression seals on the doors thermally broken aluminium, wheelchair friendly threshold.
